Wags and Kisses Rescue is dedicated to saving the lives of dogs who are at high risk of euthanasia or in danger of neglect or abuse. We strive to work with local shelters and other rescues to create a better world for homeless or less fortunate dogs.
Hello, I am the President and co-founder of Wags & Kisses Rescue located in Duluth, MN and my name is Amy Granquist. I am happy to introduce myself and the other co-founders of this fabulous rescue! Amy Martin is our Vice-President, Penny Klitzke is our Secretary, Candy Christensen is our Treasurer and our two additional board members are Alyssa Dahlberg (vetting & promotions printing) and Alisia Lingl (vetting & promotions printing). Between all of us we have a combined 30 years of rescue experience and are excited to work within our communities and save the lives of both Minnesota and Wisconsin dogs who need forever loving homes.
We began to put our heads together last summer deciding if this was the path we all wanted to go down together. This journey has been anything but smooth in the beginning! There was a lot to read, a lot to learn, and a lot to get organized prior to getting our rescue up and running! But with the diligence of hard-working women, there was no time to give up and so forward we have all gone together and with some of the bumps in the road and a few detours, we have successfully entered into the world of a non-profit rescue and are looking forward to sharing our experiences with all of you! It has already been so rewarding with the dogs we have placed, the wonderful people we have met, the veterinary clinics who have welcomed us into their business and the support of the local communities we have been fortunate enough to live in. From cash donations to dog supplies, we have been so blessed and want to thank everyone for the kindness they have shown us. We have decided to stay local in our efforts to help save dogs. There are so many that need our help right here in our two states (we have fosters in both Minnesota and Wisconsin) that this is where we decided to keep our rescue at.
We are going to be partnering with some great business’s where we will have adoption events, offering items for sale, and having informationals to hand out to people in helping them learn and understand more about fostering, adopting and good care of their animals. We will be in Becker MN at the RCenter on Saturday, February 2nd for a Chamber event that we have been graciously invited to participate in. Our next event will be coming up at “Gander Outdoors” in Hermantown, MN. This is located at 4275 Haines Road in Hermantown on February 16th, from 11am to 3pm. We will posting these events on our Facebook page as well as other pages and hope to have an excellent turnout from these communities!
We have also reached out to other rescues in order to partner with them. We feel that we are all in this for one common goal and that is to save as many dogs as we can. We can all help one another out for the greater good of these animals in finding them their loving and forever homes. We hope that together, we can all make a difference and feel that we are offering a wonderful service for our communities!
As our rescue continues to move ahead, we look forward to meeting new people, working side by side with business’s in our communities, reaching out and appreciating the assistance of local veterinary clinics, accepting new fosters into our organization, welcoming new adopters into our family and of course saving the lives of the dogs we will be working with! Thank you for taking the time to read our first newsletter and if you want to help us, any donations would be appreciated from dog food to training pads! If you want to make a cash donation you can do so on our website through PayPal. We are always in need of volunteers too! If you want to have a rewarding experience by fostering and work side by side with some pretty great ladies, please fill out a foster application form and someone from our rescue will get in touch with you!
